One of the notable achievements in fiscal 2023 was Catalent's robust efforts to mitigate its environmental impact and combat climate change. A pivotal step in this endeavor was the deployment of ISO-certified environmental management systems at 24 Catalent sites, collectively responsible for over 70% of the company's total energy consumption.
Aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Catalent has set ambitious targets to slash its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030, based on its 2022 baseline. Furthermore, Catalent pledges to ensure that 70% of its supplier emissions are aligned with science-based targets by the close of fiscal 2028.
Alessandro Maselli, President and CEO of Catalent, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, stating: "Our mission to help people live better and healthier lives is made possible not only through our business, but through our actions and commitments to improve the planet and contribute more broadly to society."
Maselli further added, "Building on great progress in fiscal 2023, I am excited to share our expanded commitments to minimize our impact on the environment and build a better planet. I am extremely proud of our team and their ongoing work to build a diverse and inclusive working environment, and a brighter future for our people, shareholders, and the communities we serve."
Aside from environmental initiatives, Catalent implemented key measures in fiscal 2023 to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of the treatments it provides to patients. This included the official launch of The Catalent Way, emphasizing continuous improvement to deliver consistent, reliable, and sustainable outcomes for clients, patients, and employees.
Moreover, Catalent maintained its dedication to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, earning recognition as a "Best Place to Work for People with Disabilities" for the second consecutive year.
Additionally, Catalent's commitment to philanthropy remained steadfast, with contributions close to $1.3 million, supporting STEM education and various social causes. The company's employees also demonstrated their commitment to community service, participating in a record number of projects during the Catalent Month of Service, engaging in 100 initiatives across their communities.
Catalent's fifth annual Corporate Responsibility Report underscores its unwavering commitment to sustainability, social impact, and driving positive change in the world.
