Serum Institute CEO calls for collaborative action to bridge healthcare gaps, emphasizing innovation and equitable access during the 'Health and Prosperity through Prevention' panel at Davos.

At the prestigious World Economic Forum 2025, Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd., joined the influential panel ‘Health and Prosperity through Prevention’ to emphasize the critical need for global collaboration in ensuring equitable access to healthcare worldwide.

The discussion, featuring thought leaders including Peter Sands (Executive Director, Global Fund), Dr. Sania Nishtar (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety), Pedro Sánchez (Prime Minister of Spain), Vas Narasimhan (CEO, Novartis), Klaus Schwab (Founder, WEF), and Magdalena Skipper (Editor-in-Chief, Nature), delved into strategies to bridge the healthcare gap across developed and developing nations.

Poonawalla reiterated the importance of addressing systemic inequalities in healthcare delivery. "The COVID-19 pandemic showed us that when it comes to healthcare, no one is safe until everyone is safe. Our focus must remain on creating resilient healthcare systems through innovation, preventive measures, and partnerships that prioritize equitable access," he said.

During the panel, Poonawalla shared insights from Serum Institute’s impactful initiatives, including its role in the global vaccine supply chain. With a commitment to producing affordable and accessible vaccines, Serum Institute has been at the forefront of global immunization efforts, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare in achieving prosperity.
