The new facility will focus on the production of Siemens Healthineers’ pioneering DryCool MRI magnets, which drastically reduce the amount of helium needed in MRI scanners from 1,500 liters to less than a single liter. The innovation aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability, addressing the critical global shortage of helium with a solution that also makes MRI installations more feasible across varied geographic and economic landscapes.

The inauguration ceremony was notably attended by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt, underscoring the project’s significance to the local economy and its alignment with the UK’s healthcare and manufacturing goals. The center is expected to create 1,300 skilled jobs, significantly boosting local employment and reinforcing Siemens Healthineers' dedication to its operations in the UK.
