Danaher’s Abcam Partners with EpiCypher to Advance Epigenomics Research

09 July 2026 | Thursday | News

The collaboration combines Abcam’s antibody validation expertise with EpiCypher’s CUTANA™ ChIC/CUT&RUN platform to deliver high-confidence reagents for more accurate, reproducible chromatin profiling and gene regulation research.

Abcam, a Danaher company and a global provider of validated antibodies and assay solutions, and EpiCypher®, the leading provider of ChIC/CUT&RUN technology,  announced a partnership to help researchers generate high-confidence epigenomic insights faster. By combining EpiCypher’s CUTANA™ ChIC/CUT&RUN platform with Abcam’s expertise in antibody development and characterization, the collaboration aims to co-develop and validate reagents that meet the highest standards for ChIC/CUT&RUN applications and enable deeper, more reproducible insights into transcriptional regulation and chromatin dynamics.

Researchers in epigenomics face persistent challenges in generating reliable, high-resolution insights into gene regulation, particularly when working with limited sample sizes or attempting to identify robust biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In these contexts, variability in antibody performance and lack of application-specific validation can undermine data quality and reproducibility, creating bottlenecks in drug discovery and slowing progress in understanding disease biology.

Through their collaboration, Abcam and EpiCypher are addressing these critical barriers by bringing together complementary expertise in antibody validation and chromatin profiling. By integrating Abcam’s rigorous approaches to antibody characterization with EpiCypher’s CUTANA™ ChIC/CUT&RUN platform, the partnership enables researchers to generate more accurate, reproducible epigenomic data with greater confidence in reagent performance. In doing so, it helps streamline workflows, reduce experimental risk, and accelerate high-impact discoveries in gene regulation, biomarker development, and precision medicine.

“In partnership with EpiCypher, we are combining rigorous antibody validation with advanced ChIC/CUT&RUN workflows to help researchers select reagents with greater confidence. By integrating these co-developed, high-quality datasets into our portfolio, we’re enabling scientists worldwide to move faster and further, with the assurance that our reagents will stand up to the most demanding and transformative chromatin research,” Josh Johnson, VP, Product Management & Strategy at Abcam.

Martis Cowles, PhD, CBO at EpiCypher, said: “EpiCypher has always prioritized rigor in developing technologies for chromatin profiling, and that includes a meticulous approach to antibody validation, which is essential for accurate biological insights. Through our co-development partnership with Abcam, we are tackling one of the biggest challenges in the field: identifying highly specific and efficient antibodies against transcription factors. Together, we’re building the tools researchers need to unlock the next generation of epigenomic discoveries.”

Partnership highlights:

  • Rigorous antibody validation: Abcam and EpiCypher have worked together to identify the best-in-class antibodies for transcription factors and epigenetic modifiers, which are central to gene regulation but historically difficult to validate.
  • CUTANA™ ChIC/CUT&RUN validation pipeline: As a leader in antibody validation for chromatin profiling applications, EpiCypher has generated robust datasets demonstrating antibody performance in ChIC/CUT&RUN, using comprehensive genome-wide enrichment metrics and incorporating Abcam’s KO cell lines to ensure specificity of select targets.
  • Integration into Abcam’s portfolio: Abcam has incorporated EpiCypher-generated ChIC/CUT&RUN data into its extensive validation approach, giving scientists additional confidence in antibody performance for chromatin profiling applications.
  • Accelerating scientific discovery: Abcam and EpiCypher are combining their efforts to remove barriers to antibody selection by providing additional confidence in the use of antibodies for ChIC/CUT&RUN, enabling researchers to focus on discovery and reproducibility in their work.
